Karishma Sharma (Artistic Director)

 
Karishma started her dance training in 1994 in Mumbai's reputed professional dance school - Shiamak Davar Institute of Performing Arts (SDIPA), where she started primarily training in Jazz. She was an active dance member in multiple SDIPA productions that were a blend of various styles such as Indo-Jazz, Rock-n-Roll, and Indian contemporary in general. Karishma came to the San Francisco Bay area in 2000 and has performed and choreographed for local dance organizations such as Zingaris, ASHA, and Sankara Eye Foundation. She helped start Bollywood fitness and dance classes at the India Community Center for kids and adults. She is an active Kathak dancer, trained at PAMPA and has performed in several productions. She has also attended a Kathak workshop in London. Karishma has been a guest lecturer at Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz. She has presented some of her dance projects at CounterPulse, WOW 2008, The Garage and Bay Area National Dance Week 2008. She is currently focussing on choreography projects in the bay area for local organizations and events.

 

 

Christine Tsang (Performer, Instructor)


Christine loves exploring the art of dancing.  Her heritage from the island La Reunion and her upbringing in Paris have exposed her to several dance styles - Ballet, Jazz, Sega, and African. She is a very active dance member of Monsoon Dance Company (MDC). She has not only performed at several MDC events such as Counterpulse, Bay Area National Dance Week and WOW 2008; but is also closely involved in its operations. Christine is a passionate dancer and keeps the fire in her belly alive by continuously learning more! She is currently strengthening her dance repertoire in various Indian dances (Bollywood, Folk) and Jazz. She is currently teaching a Bollywood dance class for adults in San Mateo.

 

 Caitlin Daly (Performer, Assistant Instructor)

Caitlin began dancing at the age of seven, receiving training in classical ballet for 12 years.  While attending the University of California, Davis, she became interested in modern dance and has pursued learning ever since.  Since meeting Karishma in 2008, Caitlin has been studying various forms of Indian dance.  She has had the opportunity to perform under Karishma's direction in multiple shows and looks forward to continuing her study of Indian dance forms. She has performed with MDC at the Garage, Shotwell Studios (Bay Area National Dance Week) and Counterpulse.
 

 

Ram Vaswani (Performer, Instructor)

Ram has been an active student and member of Monsoon Dance Company since 2009 and one of the most committed. Ram started with Shiamak Davar Institute of Performing Arts in India learning Jazz. Ever since he came to the bay area he has been actively involved in performances with MDC picking up various dance styles from Jazz, Bollywood to Modern. Ram is always up for learning something new! Ram teaches the Foster City class for Adults.
